Long Trail Brewery

So one sunday we kind of drove 3 hours to get a beer. We were greeted by this dude when we finally made it to the Long Trail Brewery in Vermont.

There was this cool map by the bar where visitors are asked to stick a pin in the town they are from. Unfortunately, there were already so many pins in Upstate NY that there was no room for us to add a new one!

M had their Imperial Pumpkin on tap, which made it to our top 5 pumpkin beers of 2012. I was a bit pumpkined out, so I tried their Good Night Irene Brown Ale. Good Night Irene Ale was brewed to benefit the victims of hurricane Irene in Vermont. Over a year later, the devastation was still apparent n the area surrounding the Long Trail brewery, so I was happy to buy a pint and help contribute to the cause.

Vermont leaf peeping

Recently, M and I took a Sunday to drive around Vermont, look at the leaves, and stop into the Long Trail Brewery.

The leaves weren't quite at peak yet, but it was still beautiful.

We can never take a serious picture together...

No, seriously...I think it was in our wedding vows that we will NEVER take a serious picture together...

Papa Pete's in Bennington

After a morning of antiquing we were starving, so I pulled up my trusty Yelp app for brunch recommendation. Papa Pete's was the highest rated.

Cash only and on the outskirts of town, just how we like it!

First of all, this. It is so rare for mimosas to be on the menu around here, this was a welcome treat!

A simple breakfast burrito: egg, black beans, vermont white cheddar, and salsa. All totally fresh and delicious. The homefries were well seasoned ad made with onions. Both rare in Upstate NY. Usually our homefries are potatoes only with NO seasonings.

M said this eggs benedict was the best. Fresh ham, good home fries, and paprika sprinkled on top. He ate this so fast it was gone before I had even made it 1/4 of the way through my breakfast burrito.

Then this. M wanted to split pancakes and the waitress warned us that ordering ONE is more than enough for two people to share, and she wasn't kidding!

Our blueberry pancake was served on a pizza platter WITH a pizza cutter and fresh Vermont Maple Syrup.

For how large it was, I immediately thought it would be all show and no substance. But this was the most perfectly cooked pancake I have EVER had. Our waitress told us the chef makes these babies with ONE spatula. That is skill. If you're ever in Bennington Vermont, this is the place to check out!

Bennington antiques

Yesterday M and I woke up and decided to take a little morning trip to Bennington Vermont before tackling our to-do list for the day. M had driven by this antique shop that he wanted to check out, so off we went! This vintage cat clock was awesome and we would have totally bought it if it hadn't been missing it's eyes and half of it's whiskers.

I thought these salt and pepper shakers kinda looked like Emmett.

I audibly gasped when I came across this booth with vintage phones. M and I are on the hunt for one to decorate our kitchen. These were a little too pricey for us because they are refurbished and in working condition. We don't need one that works, just one that will look cool hanging on the wall. We almost bought the orange one, but ended up walking away. The hunt continues!
