Epic Road Trip Brew Tour Honeymoon 2012 - An evening in Memphis

While we were in Memphis M came down with a terrible cold, so after our day of thrifting, car smashing, and sno coning, we went back to the hotel so that he could take a nap. I took this picture of him sleeping when I was starting to get impatient and hungry for dinner.

Eventually, he got up and we went out to meet his friend Chris for dinner.

We went to Boscos for pizza and beer.

After Boscos, we went over to the Young Avenue Deli where we met up with M's other Memphis friend, Kurt. We had a couple of beers, then played some pool and Ms Pac Man.

Epic Road Trip Brew Tour Honeymoon 2012 - Jerry's Sno Cones

M knew about this magical snow cone stand and made a point of driving us to this out of the way gem.

They mix layers of shaved ice with layers of vanilla soft serve and it is the most amazing, creamy, sweet, delicious thing. M got the multi flavor, and I had read on Yelp that their most popular flavor was Wedding Cake, so I ordered that. I didn't taste M's, but I can tell you that my Wedding Cake cone tasted like frosting. It was so good.

Those kids standing by the garbage can were making fun of me for taking a picture of Jerry's. They obviously take for granted how amazing this place really is.

Unfortunately, the day wasn't all sno cones and sunshine, while we were driving around we were rear ended. But the car was drivable, and no one was hurt, so we didn't let it dampen our spirits too much.

Epic Road Trip Brew Tour Honeymoon 2012 - Memphis

Our one full day in Memphis we had planned to meet Beca and Doug at Graceland, but they couldn't make it. So we decided to just explore the city on our own, starting with brunch at Brother Juniper's. This place was recommended to us by our friend Amanda who lived in Memphis most of her life. It was incredible.

M spent some time living in Memphis before we met, so he drove us around the city like a pro. We had spent the morning checking out thrift stores and pawn shops, and when we drove by this sign I told him I wanted to stop and take a picture. He made a face and said that we were in the 'ghetto.' But he agreed to stop if we left the car running and did it quickly.

We were both digging this phone booth on the side walk.

We drove by Sun Records. This was literally taken from the moving car.

We walked down around Beale Street and M took my picture in front of the New Daisy.

There were crazy tiger statues all over the city, this one was covered in comics!

The cute little trolley we didn't ride.

Epic Road Trip Brew Tour Honeymoon 2012 - Memphis Bound

The next morning we packed up the car and left New Orleans bound for Memphis. We decided to break into the Sucre macarons for breakfast.

They were ok, but honestly I've had better.

We stopped in Jackson Mississippi for lunch. M had to get his Krystal's fix.

We finally made it to Memphis, secured a hotel room, and went out to Central BBQ to get some dinner. After the long day in the car, we were so beat that we ended up just going back to the hotel and getting some rest.

Memphis FAIL

We were rear ended at a stop light, but we're ok & the car is drivable. On with the trip!

epic road trip, central bbq

central bbq is one of two reason we detoured 2 hours out of the way to stop in memphis (the other being quik chek). m used to live in memphis, and we couldn't leave the south without stopping in to his old stomping grounds and completing our "food tour of the south" with a couple of pulled chicken bbq sandwiches and sweet teas. phenomenal.
