Emmett and Arthur's sibling reunion, pt. 1

This weekend my sister and I took Emmett and Arthur out to visit their relatives! Arthur was reunited with his mom and siblings for the first time since he left as a baby last spring. This picture is mama Tatiana leading the pack.

Arthur is a little unsure of all these dogs running around.

Emmett says 'hi' to his mamma.

 Arthur reintroduced himself to mamma.

Emmett's full sister Aly pins him to the ground.

Can you tell they are littermates?

Up all night

I was so excited this summer when my favorite blogger friend Beca told me that they would be going through my area after Renegade Chicago. M & I tried to brainstorm the best place to take them to dinner, cool places we thought they would enjoy seeing. Unfortunately, we didn't get to do any of those things but I'm so happy that we were able to spend the time together that we did!

Beca and Doug rode in after 11pm on Tuesday night, tired from their long day of driving but totally willing to hang out. We made a fire in our fire pit and hung out chatting until the fire died down. I think it was 3:30am before we finally gave in to sleep, but I wish we could have hung out for days!

M snapped this photo of Beca and me at 8am as I left for work and Beca and Doug continued their rode trip. Can you believe two bloggers hung out all night long and only took ONE picture? Yeah, me neither. But this will not be the last time we hang out! Maybe we'll see each other this spring, or maybe M and I will need to plan a road trip back down south soon, and we'll take a million pictures of the fun adventures we have together. See you guys soon!

Bike Ride

I basically gave up biking two summers ago because the vintage road bike I had was just the wrong bike for me. It really irritated my back problems, so instead of switching out some things, I just gave it up all together. Until this summer when M made a quest of finding me a nice cruiser style bike that wouldn't irritate my back problems. We went to a Salvation Army, and there was one bike in the place. This 1980 Schwinn World Tourist. I loved it from the minute I saw it and couldn't wait to get it tuned up and on a bike path.

This weekend we took it on it's maiden voyage to see if it would be better for my back. After 12 miles, my back was fine! But my knees were killing me.

It was so worth it to be able to take in beautiful views like this one.

I no longer have shame in riding a cruiser instead of a road bike. In fact, I'm going all out. I bought a basket for the handle bars and a bigger, padded saddle to replace the worn out saddle that's on it right now. I'm going to be riding in luxury all fall.

Labor Day 2012

It's kind of become a tradition for us to spend Labor Day at the track. It's very fitting to spend the unofficial last day of Summer at our favorite summer place on closing day. Despite free admission, attendance is pretty sparse early on, so it was easy for us to get two picnic tables.

M brought along some Bitter Americans, while I sipped seltzer.

...I need to remember to put makeup on when I know we'll be taking pictures, hahaha.

Oy, some concealer would have made this picture a little prettier...
