Epic Road Trip Brew Tour Honeymoon 2012 - Headed for DC

After our great brunch in Brooklyn, we said goodbye to our friends and hit the road headed for DC and cherry blossoms! We stopped in New Jersey to get gas and saw this Bling Teeth machine at the rest stop. Only in New Jersey... ;)

We caught a glimpse of Baltimore as we drove by, but we didn't stop. We were on a mission to make it to DC while there was still daylight left.

Epic Road Trip Brew Tour Honeymoon 2012 - Brooklyn Brunch

After the crazy night of bar hopping and karaoke singing, there was only one place in Brooklyn that I wanted to get brunch: Life Cafe 983 in Bushwick!

M ordered Eggs Blackstone with chipotle hollandaise sauce and they were so good he raved about them to all of the friends and family we saw along the rest of the trip.

Jrrrrrr got some mac and cheese on for his brunch.

I had the Huevos Merida with a side of guac. Kelly had the Huevos Rancheros, which looked pretty similar and we didn't snap a picture of it. We left Life Cafe stuffed, happy, and ready to hit the road!

Street art murals on the steel shutters on a Sunday morning. Scenes like this make me miss Brooklyn.

Epic Road Trip Brew Tour Honeymoon 2012 - Brooklyn Bar Hopping

After hanging out at the Brooklyn Brewery we grabbed some sushi for dinner then headed over to Barcade.

M and his friend Jrrrrrr played some games while I chatted at the bar with my friend Kelly.

Kelly and I couldn't get over this little Bichon that was sitting at the bar like a perfect gentleman!

After Barcade, Jrrrrrr took us to a tiny bar in Little Italy for some karaoke. M made a new friend along the way...

This bar was Little Italy through and through.

And the karaoke was AMAZING! Everyone was so into it!

Trying to coax M into singing a song.

Kelly said "Let's take a sexy picture!" So while I did my best Blue Steel, she was all grins.

Yep, even I got in on the karaoke action. Walk Like An Egyptian style.

Epic Road Trip Brew Tour Honeymoon 2012 - Brooklyn Brewery

What better thing to do on a cold, cloudy Saturday afternoon than take the Brooklyn Brewery tour!

$20 gets you 5 chips, each good for one beer.

The brewery cat, guarded by Arnold.

Brooklyn Brewery Trivia: Did you know the Brooklyn Brewery logo was designed by Milton Glaser, the designer of the iconic I Love NY logo? He designed the logo in exchange for some shares of the company and free beer for life!

A collection of antique bottles at the brewery.

The line at the brewery bar was so long that M cashed in his two beer chips at once.

Have you ever been on any brewery tours? Did you have fun?

Epic Road Trip Brew Tour Honeymoon 2012 - The Beginning

We left upstate New York on a cold, gloomy day and headed south. First stop: visit our awesome friends in Brooklyn!

When we arrived in Brooklyn, we were warmly greeted by our friend Kelly's turtle Jager!

Missing in action

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. We've been recovering from our epic trip and getting back into the swing of daily routines. I've been trying to edit our photos from the trip as quickly as possible and I can't wait to share them with you!

Homeward Bound

M and I are finally heading home from this epic honeymoon road trip. It's been so much fun, but I am more than ready to be home, sleep in my own bed, see my pets, get back to cooking healthy food, get back to work. We have hundreds of photos and I'm looking forward to going through them all and sharing the story of our trip in more detail!

Chicago FAIL

We arrived in Chicago Thursday night, and on the drive in I felt like I was coming down with the cold M has had since Florida. Waking up Friday morning, it was confirmed, but I downed some medicine and had a full day walking around the city.

Waking up this morning was another story. Despite sticking to water when we went to the bar last night, I woke up feeling like an 18 wheeler ran over my head. I sucked it up and went to the Field Museum with everyone, despite feeling dazed and feverish. We came back to our friend's apartment around 5pm, and I took a nap while M and his friend went out to the record shop and beverage center.

That brings us to now: 9pm on a Saturday night in Chicago and I am sitting on our friend's couch watching reality television and trying to down a pint of orange juice. Too feverish to go out to dinner with everyone else, and definitely not up for going out to a packed bar on a Saturday night.

Tomorrow morning we leave Chicago, hoping to hit Cleveland in time to grab dinner on our way through to Buffalo. I'm hoping staying in tonight and going to sleep early will help tomorrow be a better day.

Memphis FAIL

We were rear ended at a stop light, but we're ok & the car is drivable. On with the trip!
