When the summer starts to wind down, I get the urge to get my craft afghan in progress!

Miyagi and Emmett have some quality cuddle time.

 M's most recent fortune

 Miyagi's new hat.

Begging to sleep on our bed even though he knows he's not allowed.

Friendship bracelet FAIL: made the strings too short.

Begging to sit on my lap. How could I say no to that face?!

Sometimes you just need to accept the fact that you bought a house on a ridiculous hill, sit back, and enjoy the amazing sunsets you can see from the middle of your street.

So long, Troy Flea! It was a pleasure hanging out with you almost every Saturday morning this summer!

Scenes from Etsy Craft Party 2012: Hudson Office

I pinch myself every day because I can't believe how incredibly lucky I am to work a job I love at a company I love, in a gorgeous office with co-workers that I love. This past Friday night was Etsy's 2012 Craft Party, and my co-workers and I hosted a craft party in Etsy's Hudson Office.

Our theme was 'repurposed library.' The local library donated old books that were otherwise going to be thrown away, and we repurposed them to make some really awesome crafts. This craft above is turning an old book into a mirror or picture frame, super cute!

This projects turns old hardcover books into a cover for your Kindle!

And we even reused the old book jackets with this simple wallet project!

A new kitchen floor

The past few weekends we have been focusing on improving our kitchen cosmetically. Last weekend, M started peeling off the old (ugly) stick on tiles, and replacing them with a color scheme I've been dreaming about since I was 12: black and white checkerboard!

 The pattern is coming together!
Getting closer....

Papa Pete's in Bennington

After a morning of antiquing we were starving, so I pulled up my trusty Yelp app for brunch recommendation. Papa Pete's was the highest rated.

Cash only and on the outskirts of town, just how we like it!

First of all, this. It is so rare for mimosas to be on the menu around here, this was a welcome treat!

A simple breakfast burrito: egg, black beans, vermont white cheddar, and salsa. All totally fresh and delicious. The homefries were well seasoned ad made with onions. Both rare in Upstate NY. Usually our homefries are potatoes only with NO seasonings.

M said this eggs benedict was the best. Fresh ham, good home fries, and paprika sprinkled on top. He ate this so fast it was gone before I had even made it 1/4 of the way through my breakfast burrito.

Then this. M wanted to split pancakes and the waitress warned us that ordering ONE is more than enough for two people to share, and she wasn't kidding!

Our blueberry pancake was served on a pizza platter WITH a pizza cutter and fresh Vermont Maple Syrup.

For how large it was, I immediately thought it would be all show and no substance. But this was the most perfectly cooked pancake I have EVER had. Our waitress told us the chef makes these babies with ONE spatula. That is skill. If you're ever in Bennington Vermont, this is the place to check out!
